The Bartletts bought acreage in Culpeper in 1972, and planted Christmas tree seedlings a few years later with thoughts of providing friends and families with their holiday trees. As they continued planting each year, their supply soon exceeded demand, and in 1986 'Peper'mint Christmas Tree Farm was born. They retailed trees in Maryland until 1994 when they became a "choose & cut" farm. Now families can choose and harvest their trees right where they're grown, knowing that they have the freshest tree in town! 'Peper'mint Christmas Tree farm is a family operation. The Bartlett's three sons, along with their families, help plant, shear, and sell the trees. Joan and her daughters-in-law make all the wreaths, swags, and roping. There are goats to pet, a mountain view, and complimentary mulled cider and candy canes in the coffee shop. They provide saws to cut, twine to secure, and help if needed. Baling is also available.
The farm grows several different varieties of pines, spruce, and firs. It is located on Rout 729, just minutes from downtown Culpeper. If you're looking for the perfect tree there are lots. But Joan also likes to remind customers that decorated trees are like brides - they're all beautiful!
