About Foxfire Farm
For thirty years we have offered beautiful Virginia grown Christmas trees and wreaths, both wholesale and retail. We have an established Choose and Cut tradition that brings families back year after year for a Foxfire Christmas tree. Customers from all of Central Virginia, Lynchburg & Farmville to Richmond & Charlottesville, and even from the Tidewater area, make the annual drive in the country to our farm for the freshest Virginia-grown Christmas tree ever. Our location, about 12 miles west of Scottsville in Buckingham county, is out of the urban rush, but convenient to reach.
Foxfire has a Christmas shop, “The Wreath Factory”, for fresh greenery & wreaths. Our most popular tree has always been our Scotch pine, which is known for its fragrance, sturdy limbs, and long lasting beauty. In recent years we have been successful in growing a great crop of Douglas firs. Like the Scotches, Douglas firs are long lasting and fragrant, with a short, slightly softer needle than a Scotch pine.
Our other varieties White pines, which people love for their long, soft needles; and Norway spruces, the beautiful short-needled dark green tree that is shaped like the classic "picture-book" tree. Norways demand a freshly cut stump and constant water, but if you're willing to take the time to pamper them, they are well worth the effort.

A Family Business
The Samuels Family planted the first of hundreds of thousands of Christmas tree seedlings at Foxfire in spring of 1968. During these next years of trial and error farming, when we tried several different varieties to see what suited the site best, the farm was an endless “learning experience” for us. In those days  the whole family got into the operation! Robert’s Dad, Levi, would sort the seedlings for us so we could take advantage of every daylight minute, reload the planting trays, and go again… and as the children grew big enough, they earned their spending money riding the planter and later, dragging the trees to the baling area. Now retired sister Corinne comes in to help with the shop during the season, & neighborhood youngsters lend a hand, too!

Hours:
For retail sales, we open Friday following Thanksgiving, and are open each Thursday thru Monday until Christmas. (On Tuesday or Wednesday, call ahead @ 434 286-3445.) Saws & twine are provided, and trees are baled for loading on your vehicle.
