Pick-a-Pine Plantation
In 1999, Don and Jenny Hochstein bought a 70-acre former tobacco farm and transformed it into their home and a Christmas tree farm, Pick-A-Pine Plantation. The rolling vista of the farm has been adorned with 8,000 seedlings, and new varieties of Virginia-grown fir and spruce will be ready to harvest in seasons to come.

This year, venture into the field to choose-and-cut your own Scotch or Virginia pine, ranging from 5' to 12' in size. All choose-and-cut trees up to 8' are $30; 8' and over are $50.

Choosing a Virginia-grown tree from Pick-A-Pine Plantation is an experience sure to put the whole family in the mood for a country Christmas. You may be joined on your adventure through the fields by deer, bunnies, quail, or turkeys, and can visit the chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, and horses in the barnyard areas. Learn how bees are raised and honey is harvested, and
purchase farm-fresh eggs and honey in the gift shop.

The Hochsteins' want you to experience a GREEN Christmas and will include a tour of their new residential wind turbine for producing electricity, the first in Southside Virginia.

Come visit Pick-A-Pine Plantation and start a holiday tradition that your family will be eager to continue for years to come!
