SycaMoore Meadows is a family owned and operated business
started by three brothers who inherited their home farm and,
after retiring, gradually converted it from a productive
livestock operation to a farm with nearly 200,000 Christmas
trees. Agencies have honored the brothers with several
conservation awards, including “Clean Water” and “Conservation
Farm of the Year”. The farm is presently enrolled in the
Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program.
Springs on the farm run so pure and cold that a neighbor uses
the water for a commercial trout rearing operation, then the
water goes on to help make up a good part of the headwaters of
Cripple Creek.
Along
the way the brothers have benefited greatly from participating
in grower organizations, attending educational meetings and on
farm clinics, and consulting with university personnel and
knowledgeable growers. |
